Heraldic Bedroom Set

The quilt cover is made from a heavy brocade style furnishing fabric from John Lewis in Oxford Street in London. There's gold braid around the burgundy cross in the centre of the cover. The backing is an orange striped polished cotton. The valance is a navy blue heavy furnishing fabric, with gold criss-cross design and box pleats. There are splits at the bottom corners so that the valance can also fit a bed with posts. I used the fabric from the doona cover for the centre panel on the matching pillowcase. The same cord edges the centre panel and the frill around the edge is made from the fabric left over from the valance. I put a different cross on the pillowcase to the one I used on the doona cover, because I wanted to vary the heraldic devices used in the various components of the bedrooms decoration.
