Cantwell's Memorials to the Dead

Estimated or calculated dates (based on an age at death) are indicated with an appended asterisk *

BURTON, Beresford: "This tomb was erected by Richard Fox of Cooligad to the memory of his Aunts, Berresford and Bridget Burton, late of French Street in the City of Dublin. Berresford died 8th February 1833 aged 63 years and Bridget died 15th November 1842 aged 65 years."
[Hence this Beresford was born 1770 and Bridget in 1777. This is a different Beresford Burton to the one born in 1735 who married Richard Strong. Most likely a niece(?)]

BURTON, Lieut Wingfield. "Erected by Richard Burton in memory of his parents, Lieut Wingfield Burton who departed this life 17th August 1835 in his 84th year and Jane Burton who departed this life 10th day of August 1812 in her 41st year."
[Hence Wingfield Burton was born about 1752. Jane was born about 1772. When they married in 1790 therefore, Wingfield was 38 and Jane 18.]

FERRIER, Alexander F.

in 1764 it was Wingfield Burton that held the 100 acres at Ballyman and still Richard Strong had the 50 at Fasseroe

in 1763 it was William Strand and Richard Strong together that had the 50 acres at Fasseroe

1757, 1758 and 1759 William Strong only had the 50 and Wingfield Burton held Ballyman. The 2 holdings always appear side by side in the records- were they neighbours? That's why Richard married Beresford??

1737 Wm Strong still has the 50 acres at Fassaro, but the 100 acres at Ballyman only shown as several tenants and in 1736 as being held by Widow Proud
